Measure your Dishwasher area before you go shopping. A quick accurate measure will help to assure your new Dishwasher will fit. Saving you time and a lot of hand washing. In addition you'll avoid waiting a week or three for your new choice to be reordered.
You're going to measure from the kitchen floor up to the bottom front lip of your kitchen counter.
Measure accurately, if you come up with less than 34" than you may have "height issues".
Measure both the left and right side of your dishwasher go with the lowest dimension.
Example - if left side measures 33 1/2" and the right measures 33 3/4" your effective height is 33 1/2".

DeleteAfter installing new countertops, and new hardwood floors, we realized a standard 34 inch dishwasher would no longer fit. I search all over the internet for advice for a full-sized Tall tub dishwasher that would still fit. I was unwilling to give up depth or rack size (btw beware, rack sizes have shrunk in many full sized models???), and found no help in the threads I found. I knew that if I was ever successful I would post about what I found to help the many others in my place. After measuring we discovered we only had 33 5/8 to work with. Specs on washers online are useless and not exact; you MUST see the dishwasher and measure all sides to discover its true min/max height. We finally found an LG that fit, but with HORRIBLE reviews, and were unwilling to try it. Instead we have gone with a GE Profile: PDWT280VSS GE Profile Built in Dishwasher with Hidden Controls. It is so new that it currently (9/20/11) has zero reviews. It arrived yesterday and it fits our space without removing the feet! It’s gorgeous, and after one load we are very happy. Quite enough that you can hear over it no problem, quieter models just don’t fit. I’ll update if we have any problems with it.

These dishwashers are used to solve a specific problem in this instance installing a dishwasher in a space below what a normal dishwasher would fit. Most dishwasher require a minimum of 34". With this in mind you need to balance that against some of the negative comments posted about those units. Its often cheaper to go with one of these units as opposed to doing a mini remodel. I also recommend an extended warranty as today dishwashers are not being made to last 25 years anymore.

My cut-out is 33 7/8" on the shortest end. But the dishwasher that is in the space (came with the house) says that it requires a cut-out of 34 1/4". The dishwasher I want says it requires a 33 15/16" cut-out, am I insane to think there is some leeway in that number and give it a try?
